Kent Crusaders Launch New Partnership with UKAT Sixth Form in Medway

Kent Crusaders Basketball Club is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with UKAT Sixth Form, based at Brompton Academy and Chatham Grammar in Medway.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in providing a high-quality basketball development programme and support structure for student-athletes in Medway. Starting in September, Kent Crusaders coaches will deliver on-court training twice a week with the school timetable, offering a professional and structured pathway for students who want to pursue both academic success and basketball development locally.

The partnership also extends beyond basketball training. Crusaders staff will support students off the court by offering mentoring and guidance around the student-athlete lifestyle. Coaches will also contribute to curriculum sessions, providing insight and expertise to all areas of basketball across the schools.

“We’re really excited to begin this new relationship with UKAT, and in particular with the Sixth Form,” said Adam Davies. “This is about more than just offering a basketball club, it’s about building young people up holistically, making a strong sense of belonging and creating opportunities for them to grow both as basketball players and as individuals through our sport.”

The UKAT Sixth Form is a dynamic and forward-thinking post-16 provision that offers a wide range of outstanding opportunities for young people. Driven by the University of Kent, it provides access to a rich and diverse curriculum, excellent higher education facilities, and a bespoke graduate and postgraduate support programme. With an OFSTED ‘Good’ rating and state-of-the-art Apple technology across both sites, UKAT offers a broad selection of A Level and BTEC Level 3 qualifications.

UKAT and Crusaders share the vision of offering a wrap-around package of personal development and elite-level coaching, helping students progress to university, apprenticeships, or employment, all within a positive and passionate environment.

The programme is open to dedicated experienced players and newcomers both boys and girls, with sessions designed to develop technical skills, game understanding, fitness, and confidence. In line with Kent Crusaders’ long-standing commitment to community and player development, the initiative aims to nurture local talent and inspire the next generation of players in Medway.
